The Scorpions enter the match on Saturday looking to bounce back after losing to FC Tucson from the USL-PDL in the U.S. Open Cup this past Tuesday. They travel to Atlanta play the Silverbacks, who are in the top half of the NASL standings and only one point behind the league-leading Carolina RailHawks. The Scorpions last played the Silverbacks on May 5, drawing them 2-2 in a tightly contested match. San Antonio will have a chance to jump to the middle of the table if they can muster a win in front of Atlanta’s home crowd.
This past offseason, the Scorpions were looking to creatively fill their roster for the upcoming NASL campaign. After some heavy turnover on the playing side, Head Coach Tim Hankinson reached out to a relatively untapped market in Eastern Europe. In total, he brought over two Bosnians, two Croatians and one Serb. Bringing these players over would have been near impossible without the help of Serna and Associates.
The Scorpions earned their first victory of the spring season this past Saturday, and they hope to sustain the momentum gained from this victory on Tuesday in their first match of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. San Antonio welcomes FC Tucson, members of the USL Premier Development League, to Toyota Field to begin the second round of the cup.
