The San Antonio Scorpions will host an intra-squad scrimmage on Wednesday, April 10th at brand new Toyota Field at 7:00 pm, Scorpions President and GM Howard Cornfield announced on Wednesday.

The Toyota Field “dry run” will be a full rehearsal for the stadium and it’s staff. The first-ever scrimmage at Toyota Field is open to the public and admission is free of charge. Gates open at 6:00 pm and concessions, beverages and new team merchandise will be on sale throughout the scrimmage.

“This will be a great opportunity for fans and media members alike to get a first look at the facility as well as our new team,” said Cornfield. “Scorpions fans will also get a sneak peek at the new uniforms that the players will be wearing, and Head Coach Tim Hankinson will be “mic’d up” for the duration of the match, giving insight to his coaching strategies and thoughts on the Scorpions squad.”

“This is an opportunity for our players to get acquainted with Toyota Field, and it also provides some final preparation for our home opener on April 13th,” said Hankinson.

The scrimmage provides a rehearsal for players, fans and staff alike in preparation for the Grand Opening of the newest American soccer-specific stadium, Toyota Field on April 13th for the Scorpions’ NASL home opener vs. the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

“This is exciting,” said Toyota Field General Manager, Marc Solis. “This is an excellent opportunity for the community to come out and see their beautiful new stadium for free. It’s an opportunity to walk around and take in everything that Toyota Field has to offer. It also presents an opportunity for us to test our systems and our staff in final preparations for the opening NASL game.”

Tickets continue to move quickly for the April 13th inaugural game at Toyota Field. With fewer than 200 tickets remaining for the game, the Scorpions today released additional overflow tickets for sale in the Miller Lite Beer Garden. Fans interested in attending the game are advised to get their tickets now through Ticketmaster.com or Ticketmaster outlets at H-E-B.
